You'll need a photo of your government-issued ID and at least one form of proof of ownership. Take clear, well-lit photos — make sure the entire document is visible.

What counts as proof of ownership?
  • Current vehicle registration in your name
  • A clean title from the DMV in your name
  • A signed-over title with bill of sale (within 30 days)
  • A signed-over title with a temporary moving permit
  • Expired registration with a temporary moving permit
  • Expired registration that expired within the last 7 days
  • Expired registration with a letter from your lienholder
If you're picking up for someone else, you'll need a notarized letter from the owner authorizing you, plus a photo of the owner's ID.
